Barrel Cameras

Postby PorkChop » Sat Aug 20, 2022 7:03 pm

Any of you guys using a barrel camera? I am kind of interested in getting one. I think the two big players in the market are shotcam and tactacam. There is also one from Ablebro that was rated #1 on some rating website. Seems to be quite a bit cheaper but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for!

If any of you guys are use one I am open to hear your opinions!

Have friends who are pleased with their shotkams. I looked at getting one a couple years back but couldn’t justify the money. With as expensive as ammo is now, if it improved my shooting it just might be worth it.

Kill shots would bore me but if I posted ONE VIDEO of a missed shot it'd go viral.

I've got decent videos just putting my cellphone in a holder that I clamp to the front of the blind and hitting record when birds start working. I think that's a better way to go then a barrel cam.

I've got better with just my cellphone. If I were getting a camera, it would be something with a remote that I can clamp on the blind or stake out front. The barrel cam doesn't get working birds and you don't want to point it at the dog or someone picking up birds.

What's worked best for me was to have 1/4" bolts poking up on the corners of my boat.
A gopro mounts easily and shoots a wide angle.
Remote?
You say, "gopro turn on" then "gopro start recording video". I took the bolts off when I got millet.
The potential for disaster is there.
Waders, dog, something was going to get into one eventually. If you have to record ...
Bolt it on here.

The odd stuff in there IS MY BLIND.
It's a curtain blind and those bent tubes are the supports.

This was shot in the dark with a Samsung s10 smart phone.

Ducks come in at around 1:22.
I got extremely lucky and it worked...the camera caught it. Was before legal shooting time.
Greenheads.

A shotkam doesn't do audio I think.

Cool! I need to make a YouTube account and figure out how to upload videos. I guess it probably shouldn’t be too hard

It's easy. Editing is not.
Gopro is not easy. Phone is.
When I saw how dark it is and the phone still captures imagery surprised me. It was dark as heck when I called them ducks. I barely could see.

Created a YouTube channel today. For whatever reason it won’t let me change my profile picture or upload any videos on my phone. But if I go to the home computer and logon it will let me do both of those things. Of course 99% of my pictures and videos are on my phone. I hate technology sometimes!

Touched on an issue.
I'll expand a bit.
Every try doing something on the internet and it failed two times? So you try again expecting a different outcome.
THAT my friends, IS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY.
No wonder everyone is bonkers.
Any questions?

Now about skunks.
Kill them all.
A skunk will scratch the front of a honeybee hive then eat the guards as they come out.
If you notice...all my hives are on 8 inch concrete blocks.
A skunk has to stand up and work with its arms to catch the bees to eat..armpits exposed.
They sting the skunk and it sprays then leaves.
My yard was stinky in march.
This is why bees hate black n fuzzy stuff. Skunks

To change your avatar...
In phone get on youtube. Search for your own channel.
Click on it and each time it comes up click on it again.
After two clicks you're on a "manage videos" screen.
There's a little pencil in the toolbar.
Click it and hazah...you'll see the rest is ez

My channel is 9 years old.
Can't believe I remember anything about setting it up
