Praying For Surgery

Postby PorkChop » Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:06 pm

Well tomorrow I head down to the Fargo VA to meet with the hip surgeon. Hoping and praying they say my hip is bad enough for surgery. Last time I had x-rays they said I had moderately severe joint disease. things have only gotten worse since then. That was about a year and a half ago. Hoping they don’t try to offer me Cortizone shots or say I just need to do physical therapy. I’m already doing DDP yoga and although it’s helped with the pain I have not gained any more mobility on my left side. So although I’m doing that yoga I’m not really able to do anything that involves my left side. I cannot tie my left shoe, I can only reach to about just below my left knee and that’s as far as my body will go. I have a very hard time getting pants on And socks. Honestly if it wasn’t for the kids I don’t think I could work up the strength to go hunting. I would say I am a shell of the man I was five years ago. So wish me well!

Also for the record if they offer me Cortizone shots I will refuse them.

Sorry man.
I'm no dr but had hip trouble too.
Basically worked too hard but it seemed like my tool belt was the issue...
Climbing ladders wearing 20# of tools ?
Piece of cake.

My condition was basically muscles swelling and pinching nerves it was awful.
My days consisted of taking advil to get going.
I'd get home, sit down, and not be able to get up.
Sleeping? Oh fuck...
Finally I found the cure.
Quit working so much and so hard.
Once I retired my hip troubles went away. I used to eat a pile of advil every day.

You do a lot of climbing I bet.
Sorry but I don't think cutting on you is going to help.

Can't you just get an iron man suit?
That'd be badass.

My grandfather had both hips replaced eons ago when it was still a more risky propostion. Him and everyone else I have known has been happy with the outcome.

You seem like a very active guy and from what I understand that is the key. Getting back to it.

Best wishes on your surgery.

Couldn’t be further from the truth. Said I will be walking once the drugs wear off from the surgery. I made a joke about dancing a week later and he said possibly would be dancing in a couple weeks. The key is walking walking walking. The more you walk the faster/easier the recovery.

Just got back from the surgeon’s office. As of right now surgery is scheduled for 20 April. I need to get a dental exam first which is scheduled for 4 April.

Guessing the snowgeese will show up 19 April :D

You may rest assured that on 420 I'll be baked and praying that your doc has a good day.

Glad you are not gonna have to wait months for the surgery PC, and even though it will cut into your Spring goose season, know it will be worth it

Doctors don't wake n bake on 420.
They do other even more crazy stunts that I've heard about but never got close enough to see.
The 20th is on a Thursday...perfect.
I bet Mondays and maybe Fridays are hell.
When I was carpentering Monday thru Friday was pretty clean but I'd start thinking about the weekend and hack my index finger about 5 minutes before quitting time.
You're in good shape ....Thursday.
Again....doctors don't wake n bake.
Carpenters do.
Still pulling for you.
You can't change that.

Well just got back from the dentist and received the all clear for surgery. I do have a cracked tooth that will have to be pulled out but I elected to do it after hip surgery otherwise I have to wait several more months for the old hip.
