Came across this cartoon this morning. I guess if I know there are mallards in the area I will try to shoot a limit of them just because more meat however if Buffelhead‘s is all I have then Buffelhead‘s it is. I have hunted With guys though that will only pull the trigger if it’s a mallard.

They're big, bright, easy to call and easy to hit: what's not to like?

I haven't passed up a shot at a buffalohead in years... :duck:

Those good looking drakes are hard to pass up when in full plumage, and the duck traffic slow.

Different stokes: I'm not much of a shooter, but when green-wings haven't been in our duck mix for a while, I'll find myself craving them as targets. And they're a table favorite at our house.

We like them so much they are the only ducks that get plucked whole and are coveted at the table as Rick indicated.
The big ducks get breasted no skin and we also filet the drum sticks as well skin on for a duck leg gravy that is as good as it gets.

Zero problem shooting teal! Wish ours had more fat on them. I especially love it when they show up while we are field hunting. Seems like they have been hitting the fields more and more every season and with proper shot placement most times you can get more than one per shot.

Had our late camp owner's grandson with me one youth day when he Scotch-doubled on his first shot, whiffed on his second and Scotch-doubled on his third. Only time I've ever seen that, but wouldn't credit proper shot placement...

Glad to see duck talk here. I agree that Teal are special in many ways.

The only thing special about teal where I hunt is how especially rare they are. I've never shot or even saw a BWT shot. I do see a few in early goose season, but never got a shot. 3.5" 1 5/8 oz BB are good for teal, right? I've got less than a half dozen GWT. I'm happy when I shoot a mallard. Happier when I shoot any other species of duck with but a few exceptions. Very rare I pass on any duck. Mostly because if I do, I probably passed on the only duck of the day.

Once again stop posting senseless garbage on other peoples topics or at least mine. you have your own thread to post such things. Every post is not about you nor does it need you to add something to it. It was a nice two day break of being able to have a conversation without senseless garbage added.
