What would have happened...?

Postby Mornin Beef » Mon Oct 29, 2012 3:58 pm

Tapped out my muzzleloader the other night to clean it and 4 gun powders and two bullets came out. What would have happened if I shot that double load at a juicy doe? Being serious by the way.

How does that even happen? Went civil war style on a deer drive and forgot to pull the trigger?

Probably would have been a really loud boom with a miss. With my muzzle loader I usually put three powder pellets in, I don't even know what would happen if I double loaded to six.

It happened because I spaced. I make mistakes.

I've always thought I might do that with my muzzy.

I pictured it would have peeled back the barrel like a banana and I would have had black face.

Try it out mythbusters style.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

I was gone all last week and over the weekend. I know I popped a juicy double load when I tapped it out with the doe last night.

Yes. He craps in the toilet and flushes.

He doesn't flush. They don't have thumbs to be able to flush it, Focker.

Nothing would've happened except an extra bullet and 2 unburned pellets would've come out with an extra big kick. The first bullet in would've sealed the gasses from getting to the front powder. Be just like loading a bullet that weighs twice as much.

My dad gave me his muzzle loader a few years back and told me it was unloaded. I was young and did not check it first. Well I loaded it and pulled the trigger. That dang thing kicked me like a mule and scoped me. I had a one inch cut. Funny thing is one round hit 1/2 high of bulls eye and the other was 18 high but perfect left and right.
