Sometimes it pays to ask......

Postby Deltaman » Mon Jun 12, 2023 2:42 pm

2 weeks ago, I bought a depth finder/GPS combo @ Academy, and paid $719.99 for it. Was looking at something online today, and saw the same model advertised @ Academy as a "hot deal" for $449.99 (just my friggin luck :o ). With an almost $300 delta, decided to a ask if they would honor that price. I purchased on 5/27, and even though the price didn't drop until 5/30, the gal at the register was kind enough to honor the lower price (refunded $297.00 - whew!!!!!)

The store I use most is quite persistent in asking if I want to be in their rewards program so I always ask if they'd like to join my rewards program too. Seems like the "nice" thing to do. So far not one retail sales staffer wants to even find out what the rewards are.
Congrats delta...it's like finding 297 long lost friends at the boat ramp.

Good on Academy for that move, probably went further than they know as far as your likelihood to keep doing business with them.

Yep, most excellent customer service from Academy, and know it could've easily gone the other way with a big fat "sorry"

Have only used the Academy store in Jonesboro, AR.
Their staff wasn't all-knowing but given time they figured out that they had the one remaining MOJO remote and helped me find it.
DNW was out.
If you ever get there for sure take time to go see DNW Outdoors. Amazing waterfowl inventory.
It's the best sporting good store I've been to except Mack's.

Threw that out there because it's rare to find an actual sporting goods store.
Academy is nice but when I walked in I was thinking oh shit another sporting clothing store maybe I need a tennis outfit...
Way in the back past the sporty outfits they have huntin stuff.
