It may take me a while to locate it all but this one is Rainey Brake wma.
You have to be fucking crazy to go hunt there but...
I know some crazy people like Kirk McCullough and which hole they used ten years ago.

The guys that decorated the truck. ...they went home with tickets.
You have to have legible numbers on your boat?

Them old videos are shot in the football field hole. It's big.

This is inside the clubhouse at Bayou Bottoms and that's just one of their legendary guides.
That man has hunted from Canada to Argentina as a guide. It's Harpie.
A legendary figure that's part woman and part winged demon.
Anybody seen him alive lately?

Made me think of our last, and now late, local marsh legend, "B" Duplantis. who wasn't hard to pick out of the line-up:

They come and go. The guys that reek duck knowledge without even trying. You bump into one occasionally and then they fly off.

I'm searching thru 20k pictures and this one randomly popped up.

His name is Tanner and when I met him he was picking up 22 casings, tossing one into the air and then shoot it.
Tanner...can shoot.
His uncle shot professionally for binelli.
His grandfather owns some flooded timber where presidents went to hunt.

His mom paid me to pick and wax them specks.

This aint got a thing to do with ducks not even a bit.
This stuff is good. Kinder's BBQ sauce.
Applewood rub from McKormicks. Local honey used as glue for the spices.
Once July 4th is past all of a sudden it's duck season again hurray.

Yes. He let me shoot Tim's gun at targets.
I did not want to give it back.
I never met his uncle but I probably was at a big new years eve party and didn't know if Tim was there. Never know. I was kind of way out of my element.
Small world. Sitzer lane sound familiar?

The ringneck festival where I met him was in South Dakota... We did visit about Arkansas if I remember correctly, Tom and Tim set at our table one night at the banquet on Saturday night.. They told stories I just listened, I was kind of out of my element as you say...

Yes sir, I'm from the hilly Part I have gray squirrels eat out of the bird feeders every morning...

I've never hunted the Illinois River (canoed down the Illinois River one summer in August when I was a young man it was supposed to be 1 hour trip it took us 3 hours, I paddled my ass off, let me just say I was grumpy by the time we got done)...
I do kill ducks in water that has run through the Illinois River...

Searching for more good stuff and found this.
Ohhh yeah I had to go "the back way" to Rainey Brake.
The road from Powhattan to Lynn is curvy and fun and they drive like Nascar.
That back road way got washed out the same year.
Was an expensive trip for someone.

This is far beyond what a camera can detect.
The sky is literally filled with ducks all flying out to feed at sunset.
It recharges my batteries like nothing I know of and it's easy to get up to hunt knowing all those birds return to rest all day dabbling on the NWR.
This footage is from the boundary of the refuge.
Ducky enough?
I think I posted it back in 2020 too.

That boat launch is about 200 feet long.

If you look the lake is empty.
The mallard lake was full of cypress trees that have almost all died and fell down in just 10 years.
I think cormorants had something to do with their demise.
The wma is fine but that lake has some issues.

This tire only lasted one day. Burnt it good one night.

^^^ that's why I bought bfg all terrain t/a tires.
Them car tires are no good at all..
