The biggest complaint I have about the ststem is that they don't have to vote for whoever had the majority vote in that area. If romney took 90% of the popular vote in an area, they are still allowed to submit for Obama.

The electoral college is old, and really serves no purpose anymore, other than allowing the two parties to game the system when campaigning and spending money. It was originally "required" to get the small states on board with the Constitution. Smaller colonies like RI, Delaware, and the southern colonies were afraid of having their "voice" drowned out the overwhelmingly larger populations of PA, NY, etc.
The biggest reason (to me) to get rid of it is that this system has worked TOO well. Now you get what we have- candidates only have to "convince" less than 5% of the population in 3 or 4 states to win, and that's effed up. People like you or me in MD or IL simply don't matter- they know where the electoral votes will go. It'd be nice to have a candidate have to worry about votes like ours in BOTH sides of the political spectrum.
I'm just so disgusted with the people in this country.

Huntall, this sums up the electoral collage pretty well as Assa was saying.

Looks great huh?
Nope, those few blue counties is all it took for Obama. Within the places that voted for Obama lies Pittsburg and other metropolises.

I'm glad I live in at least a red county. Can't wait to get to a red state again.

I'd be willing to bet those counties don't require ID to vote.

X=Can we please just agree that it's time for a break up? We can still remain friends, I promise. It's not you, it's me. Of course the blues could never let the reds go, because then they'd have to work for themselves, and we all know that ain't gonna happen.

Yes. All the illegals will go vote for Obama because he will give them food stamps and will put their kids through school for free. And all the blacks will go and vote early and then come back later and vote under a different name. The people that think its unfair to have voter ID laws because it is discriminating against the people.

I honestly believe the country is too philosophically divided. There is simply no way for those who want everything for free and those who want to just be left alone to coexist. People get divorced all the time. You know why? Because they just can't be together. We should be two countries. And I would laugh at the one the libs want to see in existence.

This is just ri-G-D-Diculous. Granted, I know that most the population of this country lives within metropolis areas, but still.
