I'm pretty sure there's a way bc you can turn music videos into song files and put them on your iPod bc I saw my brother do it. I am not tech savvy enough to figger it out tho.

Well, we did try and use a doubles fact and making tens to calculate the voltage but it didn't work. Silly old multiplication and division. Damn my education, that didn't teach me how to use 17 steps to solve when 3 steps would do. Damn them to hell.

I've seen then all different lengths. How far away from your power source do you want to weld? I believe the leads on my mig are 10' I've seen leads on a stick connected together and gone 200'

I appreciate it, brother, but my neighbor just "donated" an old set of jumper cables. I think I'm good to go. Got the other transformer out this morning, and now trying to dig all the epoxy out so I can pull the primary and wind a new secondary. I may be welding by the weekend. Or crying over the smoldering ashes of my shop from a hospital bed. Either way.

You wouldn't happen to have a generator with a 220 do you? Might be better off trying it in a field instead of your shop.

I actually much prefer the old style rod clamps like that. All of them at work are the twist tighten kind and it takes too long to switch rods if you are doing a lot of welding. Plus the 90 degree angle feels more comfortable to me.

That's what I got that they had on clearance. The video has a guy holding the rod on the end of the lead with a pair of vice grips he's also using as a handle. While I understand the theory, and that this is safe, there's no effing way I'm doing that. Electricity scares me.

I like the clamp style too, these are just some crappy ones.

Got the secondary coils wound on, and the primaries back in place. Epoxy the bottoms back on, and tomorrow plug it in and see what happens.

That's awesome, best of luck, hope it's safe and congrats on possibly finally getting a welder.

And for the record, I don't think you are doing this to be cheap but just to see if you can.

I'm not sure- I have a couple pieces to return, and a couple pieces to get, but I think right now I'm at $38 or so.

Just got back with my pack of welding rods and a 99 cent clamp which is gonna be the ground clamp. I think I have everything for the test run. If it works, I've got big plans for a cabinet.

Why did you buy a clamp? The clamp from the jumper cables would have worked fine.

I'm going to use the leftover wire from the secondary coils instead.
