Its a start. The second garden at the abandoned house is getting planted now.
Did four rows of Illini Extra Sweet sweet corn, planted pumkins and watermelons yesterday.
Raining now.

Look close at the right side. The un mulched part. See how black the dirt is here? Black loam. Very rich.

Picture came out pretty crappy.

That was everything I bought and I thought I wouldn't have enough room, but I only used about half the space I fenced in for the garden. 24 jalapenos, 12 yellow wax peppers, 12 bell peppers, 12 cabbage, 24 tomato, 3 rows of beans, 2 rows of beets, 50 onions in that picture then I have 12 burpless cukes and 12 pickling cukes in a patch by themselves.

Should I just leave the other half empty and work what I've got, or plant more?

Total area is actually 24x65. Followed the instructionns on planting except for the peppers. My gram, who has had a garden over 70 years, told me to plant them closer to pollenate them. No idea if its true, but she has always had a lot of peppers so i listened.

They work like a sonofabitch. They will flat grow some tomatoes, believe it or not. Did it a couple years ago with 5 gallon Sheetrock buckets (actually I think they're 4.5 now). Drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom, run the tomato plant through, and added about 10" of dirt. Had them hanging all over from tree branches, tied on with scraps if Romex. Biggest problem was that I didn't hang them high enough. The bottom needs to be at LEAST 6 feet high.

Oh, you mean the trellis I made from copper. It's for a rose bush that was in our other yard. I stuck it by the window to hang a bird feeder on. I made that thing a long time ago.

My Carsten Pintail duck boat is just to the right but out of the picture.

Like Assa said, they work. The must be high enough, AND you have to water the hell out of them. Lots of water, and they will grow.

I have a backyard pond. The filth that I clean out of the filter is gold for plants.
Also noticed when I do my annual water change....the dirty water at the bottom is garden gold.
