As long as no one gets a truck avatar, that would be fine.

I think that is dust. I am hoping for rain so I can get a better look at the color.

The adjuster came out today. I asked him if he had any trouble finding the place. He said, no, I just looked for the orange mailbox just like you told me.

HTKINF or TK- how tall is the firebox, how high did you make it sit off the bottom of the barrel, and how far is it from the top of the firebox to the grill? TK, you said the firebox was 10" tall, and from the pics it looks square, so unless I should assume differently, I'm figuring it has 10" wide sides, too.

Mine is like in the video I posted, about a foot square with six inch sides. It sits about six inches off the bottom on a metal bowl thing I found laying around to catch the ashes. Put the grill as high up as you can so that the food won't touch the lid. I have one at 8 inches from the top and one at four inches, I use the lower one but if I wanted to I coud load it up with a dozen racks of ribs on two grills.

Don't worry and just build it. It's not rocket science.

Jim,
Make a 10 " high rectangle, about 12-14" long. This part is not all that critical, the important thing is to have it slightly raised off of the bottom to have good air flow.

Will do. I got the ball valve as you and HTKINF recommended, also. And I found a cheaper grill than the Weber, which was a much heavier gauge (Weber was $20, and was very cheap compared to this one, which was only $14.) Still working on a lid, though, since the barrel guy didn't have any lids. Went to a metal working shop up the road, but all he had was full sheets of 18 gauge. Told me to come back next week, and he'd set a scrap aside for me.

It's a TV show called trailer park boys. It became insanely popular up here when the NHL went on strike. I'm also pretty sure that's where Assa and Jehler got the knock knock thing. It was a running joke on the show

For grills, I took the racks out of a small oven someone was throwing out. I also saw a smoker built by a Dutch guy not far from here, and he had a lid made of plywood. One circle slightly smaller than the opening of the barrel, one slightly larger, both of them screwed together. He seasoned the inside with cooking oil and painted the outside. I guess that's how they do it in the Netherlands. Just an idea.
