That's little bitty wire. Don't know how well that'll carry power over a good distance.

It's 8 gauge copper. Hopefully it'll be fine.

Got the power supply hooked up and the ground clamp made. Waiting for the neighbor to get home and bring his voltmeter and helmet. Then it's on. Just gotta find my fire extinguisher.

The other neighbor set this up for his kids, so of course Layniebug saw it. I'm here now for a while, sidelined from the "welder".

50/50. It ought to work for a light hobby welder but it'll be interesting to see how it works on different size metal.

I'd like to see what the welds look like. I've welded using two car batteries before and it works by isn't pretty. I'm hoping this will be at least a little better than that.

If It works, I'm building one this summer to weld on my lawnmower decks.

Is there any way to control the amps?

That's just my style. Sounds like a champ, but I thought he said something about building something that could control the amps in the video.

That things sketchy. It's basically just a tub of water where the contacts get closer together, increasing the amperage. No way.

Bear in mind, I've welded for about 42 seconds in my life, so the quality of the welds might not be an indicator of the welder quality.

The guy actually had a gun on him and had drew it on officers on previous occasions, they told me they had authority to shoot him.
Then he says "you're a big sumbitch, why didn't you jump in and help?". My luck they'd think I was on the criminals side and taze me too.
Besides, they had him outnumbered 5 cops and a german Shepard to 1.
