It's not threaded. It's a bolt on application, with a small gasket. Thought about just cross-threading a modern one into the hole, but not sure what sort of clearance I have on the inside.

More than one way to skin a cat.

Probably 6 ways to rig a muffler onto an engine.

Completely off, so I stopped after a bit, since it now blows an open header directly across the vent holes in the gas cap lid. Midst stop for fear of danger, but because if that bitch caught fire, I'd have to buy a new rototiller, and I don't want that to happen.

So far, no luck finding a muffler for a 1968 Montgomery Ward tiller. Will keep looking.

You have a welder don't you? Put stacks on that bitch if it comes down to it.

Went from this, which was for about 9 years or so after the guts blew out:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396555447.153190.jpg

To this, yesterday. But it was loud as heck, and there was a good possibility is ruin it by catching fire to the fuel line or gas cap vent:

Just picked up a $4 muffler, and the threads were a just a little too small, but was the closest I could find. Cut a thin strip out of a scrap piece of tin, and used it like a shim in the hole. Let the threads grab, and it torqued in there pretty good, to the point it wouldn't turn with a pair if channel locks. We'll see if it holds.

Motherfucker looks like a hot rod now.

Nice. Wish I could find an el cheepo tiller that just needed a little love.
This is the wrong time of year to be looking.

Only one tiller around these parts.

Do the roots connect just under the surface? Otherwise, it just looks like bermuda grass.

Do they pull up easy? If so, we have them here, too. I just run my wheel hoe through and they die really quick. No need to pull them, just run a rake through and the sun on the roots will kill them.

Tilled my big garden last week with a tiller almost identical as assa's.
It took me a while of fighting the machine to stop and drop that rear thing all the way down. As soon as I did that it went from hard and wrestling the machine to simply walking along side it using one hand on the on-off lever.
Tilled up the entire garden in about two hours and 3 tanks of fuel. Half the garden had not been tilled in about three years, maybe four.

Planted four rows of corn already and will stick in another four every week or two.
The first four rows was about 200 seeds. If I only get one ear per plant that's still quite a bit of corn.
Should end up with about 16 rows total.

Planting tomatoes today or this weekend.

Getting my garden tilled this weekend. I need to make a mad dash to the FIL's to get some horse shit before the guy shows up to till....

Do have all my tomatoes, peppers, and onions started though. Didn't have enough window light to start the beans, jalapeños, and peas. They might just go into the ground to start rather than peat pots.....

My corn is about 6" tall. Won't get any til mid July. Can't plant until mid April at best. We had snow in the middle of April this year. Weird spring. Late, then moist and cool. Been dealing with fungus issues.
Not looking like my best summer and it ain't started yet.
