And still be three or four years ahead of where you are now.

This is similar to TK's boat blind project; we will probably never, never ever, see a picture of the finished product. Instead of: "I'm only going to use it on calm days" we will soon be hearing "I really didn't plant it so that people could walk on it, I only allow that in the first hour after it is mowed."

Why don't you just ask Flint to take a few days off and pay him to come up for a consultation? That is, if you want a nice lawn.

The Mexicans would be a better deal. They would do it all, start to finish for half the price of Flints consult

Seed is down boys! I just picked up 10 bales of hay from the Amish to spread to keep the birds out. I didn't end up doing the sprinkler system like I wanted to but oh well.

Shit. I forgot that if you speak the language and give a little pecker tap you can get what you want. I should have been proper.

New phone new apple software and new version of tapatalk. Not getting any notifications.
Burying water hose for a sprinkler line is pointless. Just put a regular sprinkler out there or a few of them hooked together and keep that seed wet. It has a really hard outer shell that has to break down before it will germinate. Once it sprouts you really gotta keep it moist and cool. The summer sun will fry it in a matter of minutes until it establishes a root system.

Arent you supposed to use straw not hay since hay has seeds?
I got everything smoothed out (mostly), some water down, ready for seed, just need to go get straw before I seed.

Straw has seeds too.
When I worked in turf research for UGA we used pine straw for seeding in experimental fescue plots so there wouldn't be contamination. Just use wheat straw. It's good for a lawn bc the wheat seeds in there will grow and help root your yard down.

Hay shouldn't have seeds. If you let it go to seed before you cut it, the stalks (the actual "hay") loses a lot of it's nutritional value, and is harder for the animals to digest, also.

Its dried from last year. My father did his whole yard 2 years ago with the same bales from the same field and his yard is perfect. I'm actually out back of his place now drinking a beer.

We've got grassage. It's about 1 1/2" tall right now and growing fast, not bad for one week. Been watering the hell out if it, so far so good.

Mines about the same height. Going to rake the hay up in a day or two.

I think I'm gonna let it go for a couple more weeks, then mow/mulch all the straw in with it and reseed thin areas.

Thought about that but my friend had a bunch if straw bales he had to get rid of, it's working quite well, the lawn now looks like more green grass with some straw on it rather than dirt and straw.
