It'll be nice to have. No doubt about that.

What if it's a double flusher?

It'll take 2 hours to say farewell.

I'm gonna get Sully's Power Plunger. No such thing as a two flusher

I think the recharge rate is the important number, so I'm going to pump it dry, and then see how long it takes to get back to whatever level the water started at. That's all I really know to do. And truthfully, if I get 5 gallons out of it, and it takes 3 hours to fill back up, that's more than fine. Not going to be washing cars or anything. Just in case of a hurricane or ice storm or the end of society, something where the power's out for a while. It'll be nice to know we can still have water to drink, flush the toilet with, cook, and clean up. Even 1 gallon per hour is more than enough for that.

That's awesome!

I wanted to do this, but the 200ft between me and water won't allow it.

If I understood what I read correctly. All you need to do is go deeper and back fill with rocks to get more than 5 gallons.

Ok, tested it earlier. Measured the water depth and started pumping. Honestly, we thought we were going to pump it dry, and then see how long it took to refill (the pipe from the static water level to the bottom of the well holds about 6 gallons)

Drew 20 gallons without stopping, then pulled the cap to measure the water level, and it had only gone down a little over a foot. Based on calculations, the volume of a 3" PVC pipe is a little over 1/3 of a gallon per foot. So the recharge rate is just barely slower than what is possible to draw with the pump, but at this point, I don't see any way to empty the well with a hand pump. We drew 20 gallons, and only lost 1/3 of a gallon from the well.

Overall, I'm happy as a clam.

Need to get my "Real" pump refurbished, and get rid of this Chinese pos. I can see how it'll be nice to have the much longer handle on the old one my wife got.

I don't feel badass. I am stove the fuck up. 4 hours straight of drilling yesterday has me hardly moving. Not that I could move very quickly, even if I wanted to, though.

I'm happy I did it, though. It's nice now to not worry about hurricanes or ice storms or anything. Fuck it- we have a woodstove and access to water, now.

Amish Weekend just got kicked into high gear, bitches.

Would like to do this, but think I'll pass. Have 27-35 ft. of drought stricken clay and rock before getting to water. Not like I need it, Taz swimming pool is my biggest water usage.

I don't think it'd be possible to go through even a little bit of rock, really. Getting through the little bit of clay I had was a bitch.
