12v drill conversion

Olly, believe this one is up your alley. I need to take a 12v cordless drill and make it so we can hook it up to the batteries on the boat. Seems straight forward enough but I've also been told I need a resistor on it as well for it to function properly, to keep from burning up I suppose. I have no clue what I need as far as the resistor and need some direction.

Trying to make holes in the boat on the water? Shotgun would probably be easier and quicker.

Cranking up double hook rigs from 1500 feet gets old quick. They make a drill attachment that hooks up to the crank and does the work for you.

If you got a discount I still couldn't afford those damn reels. Hence why I'm trying to ninja rig a cheap ass drill  Those reels are extremely badass though. I've seen stupid rich sportfishers here that use them for nothing more than pulling in their dredges and daisy chains

Wouldn't a inverter and reg drill be easier and cheaper or does it have to be cordless?

It's easier to get to the batteries and seems to be less of a strain on the system. The boat does have 120 plugs in the cabin but we never really use those for more than a fan or phone charger while playing music.

99% chance you can wire it up directly with no problems. The only problem I see is that the drill will pull way more current than the boat battery can provide and it will kill the battery. Kill as in destroy it by depleting it too far.

Hmm I've heard of people doing it but haven't been able to find specifics

I've seen it done on jeep forum. If you had a running car while using the drill it'd work better I think.

This would be one of the boats three batteries with charging system on them. If killing the battery is even remotely an option this won't work.

Look at the drill specs and see how much power it draws then look at your batteries and figure out it's Amp/hour rating.
