I made some venison chops last night. I took a red bell pepper from the store, a jalapeno from my garden, and some mystery pepper from my garden. Yep, not sure if they got the wrong seed in the peppers I bought to plant, but I don't know what it is or where it came from. So mild, I didn't notice it. Fried them up nice and soft. Then I took the chops that I cut into strips, lightly seasoned them with a steak spice I have, called St. Louis seasoning if I remember correctly. Fried them to just a touch over medium in the same pan with the peppers. Took a little water and rinsed the seasoning from the bottom of the bowl I used to season the venison and dumped it over the peppers while the steak was cooking. Stirred it all together when the steak was done.

This was supposed to be for just me as I got home late and my wife had eaten. Well, I shared more than I planned  Definitely found how to cook venison the way she likes it  It was very good. I'll definitely be doing that again, but just make a little more next time :D

Cajun Power garlic sauce marinade chicken strips fried in lard. Little bit of Nunu's.
Used the Louisiana batter mix.
Mighty fine. The spice sort of creeps up on you.
Nice. I'm spoiled.

For some reason I was surprised that they really do eat Ramen noodles in Japan. Not the cheap crap we buy at Walmart for 40 cents a pack to mix with water from your illegal hot pot in your dorm room. I had a layover in the Tokyo airport and my boss is one of those people that flies ridiculous amounts so he gets to take a guest for free into the United Club at the airport. Nice place to hang out in the airport if you must hang out in the airport. Free food. Free drinks, beer, wine, etc. Comfy chairs. Restrooms handy. In Tokyo they had Ramen noodles to eat. My boss pointed it out because he loves them every time he passes through. They were pretty good, but they are still noodles.

I thought I was the only one that gets triggered by a word and falls into the way-back machine and tells a story.

Yesterday was roast beef, corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes with gravy.
Today is open-faced Manhattan sandwiches with rice n gravy. I can barely wait.

The wife had a big selection of beef to pick from and she picked the best roast beef we've had in years..
Marbled like a ribeye or something it was tender and juicy. Might be a while before it gets topped.
The crock pot gravy cooks all the fat out and it's tasty.
If i get to select my final meal that's what I want.
Manhattan sammich.

Slow cooked a slab-o-ribs on the egg for Labor Day, baked several hasselback gold potatoes, and my bride made a creamy spinach casserole. It didn't suck, and I'm looking forward to leftovers today for lunch. My wife has been down with Covid for the last week, and I have dodged it so far. I took the boat out solo Sunday, and put out a few old fashioned crab lines at a few places I fished. Didn't catch any Flounder that I was targeting, but did box 4 dz beautiful blue crabs. Trash picks up today, and we have already picked them clean. Marinated crab claws and West Indies Salad will be on the dinner menu this week

Couldn't take it any more on a rainy September Monday afternoon off of work for Labor Day....did first chicken/sausage gumbo of the season and came out like it should. Local tasso and andouille sausage did their thing

It's pop's for pizza or no place at all.
The pizza factory is inside the old Pepsi cola bottling plant. It's nice.

The roast beef dinner is getting pricy.
Sent her for top sirloin and she returned with bottom.
It'll eat but was $21 for 2.75 pounds.

yes.
The ducks got up to 160 and probably need the gumbo treatment. I'd bet they taste like smoked liver. Doh.
The roast was tasty and juicy which surprised us. it looked dry.

The gumbo was really good. My daughter approves of the smoke treatment. We always do a big recipe with two ducks and send most of it to her.
Hopefully her kids will decide to hunt ducks so their mom can continue to eat gumbo the way she loves it.

The waterfowling thing skips generations so we have to work at it. I pray that Elliot and Emmett pair up and do it.
They'll have all the tools.

Ever shoot a gallinule?
Harpie told tales of them sneaking up and trying to drink his beer. They have long bills and tend to tip cans over.
Never caught one but its not because we weren't trying.
Legendary birds.

I’ve heard of people creeping through reeds and cattails to jump shoot ‘em but I’ve never seen any in my area.

We've got plenty of them here, kinda the wood duck of the coot world  See them walking the edges, and mostly on top of the marsh a lot in the Spring, when bass fishing.
