Worthless. Why wouldn't you just shoot the mother fucker with a gun in the first place?

THIS

The guy I was hunting with Sat was upset I "shot that turkey too soon". Why?, I ask
"I wanted to see the show"

Bullshit, says I. I came to hunt, not play games.

Pissing around with gimmick arrows does not interest me personally. I am a gun guy, arrows are the reason the indians lost.

The Libertarian in me says that if you fellas want to do it, good for you. You know I am never one to judge others.

At least I can walk in and buy arrows off the shelf, no shortage on them. Dont have to pass a background check to buy a bow. When they come and take your guns away my silent killer will still be handy.

True you can but arrows are expensive. I only got a dozen right now because of that fact.

I think it would even better to have three bullets at the tip and have each detonate a second apart in the elephant. It would be like shooting it three times. Elephant soup tonite!

Or you could just shoot it with a gun once and have the bullet go all the way in. More efficient and at 1/3 the cost.

The gas discharge alone is lethal, even without the bullet

Ok, Why don't you buy some and shoot blanks with it.

I know they have. I remember a story about a preacher who died after he shot himself in the head during a sermon. I never said that they wouldn't kill just that they were less efficient and stupid.

True. Arrows = expensive, but a silent dispatch = priceless.

I can't believe I missed this one.

Someone shoot me with an exploding arrow. I want it to be quick, and badass.

For the record, Rage blow.

You may not have lost one yet, but you will, and its going to be a big bastard. Mark my words. They might be good enough for flacid little infirm southern donkeys, not 250 pound midwest wild-eyed tank-assed fire-breathers.

Get muzzy, or something similar. If you lose one with a muzzy, you didn't hold up your end.

The two I lost were about a 70 pound doe at 22 yards, and about a 100 pound spike at 15. Both quartering away, the doe pretty hard, but the spike was an ideal shot. Toted off the arrows without a drop of blood.

Every deer I've shot has been in the midwest. Not all 250lbs but a few were. I'll use them until I find something I don't like about them. They fly like a field point for me and leave massive blood trails.

So are they just not opening for you guys then? 2 blade or 3 blade?

I'm smart enough not to trust them.

I've never heard of them not opening, just not killing. I know plenty of good shooters who have lost animals with them.

How do they not kill if they open? They cut the same as any other broadhead as long as they open all the way.

That happens with any broadhead. It's part of bow hunting.
I know a couple of bad shooters that ripped the hell outa a deer with a rage.

I will never trust mechanical broadheads. Just the thought of them malfunctioning keeps me away from them.

If I could find a good flying fixed blade I'd use it in a heart beat. But any I've ever tried start drifting pretty good after 15 yards.

Just so.

Too many horror stories to give them my confidence. I know losing animals is part of it. Happened to me last year on the biggest animal I've had a chance to kill. I just want to make sure if I do my part, the broadhead does it's part. I've seen cases where the rage dosent.

I've seen animals that were literally cleaved open by the two blades, but its the deer that are still walking after being hit by one that concern me.

I have read articles by guys who shoot consistently with Thunderheads at ranges over 60 yards with no issues.

Shit just happens in archery sometimes. You don't get the shock trauma like a bullet does. I may be talking out of my ass here, but even if a mechanical that doesnt open passes through a deers heart - he's dead. Its just gonna have a smaller cutting dia.

Those oldschool broadheads are probably some of the best fixed blades ever made. My dad put a lot of deer on the ground with those blades. But I still can't get as good of groups with them as I can the rages.

You don't need a good group to kill a deer. If I had an option between a consistent 2 inch group with Rages or a consistent 8 inch group with a muzzy, I'd take the muzzy hands down. I know as a rule, the Rages should pride themselves on the size of the opening going in, because they damn sure don't come out.

Anything over a 4 inch group at 30 yards scares me. If I'm off 4 inches for some reason and the arrow is off another 3 or 4 that's gonna lead to a bad day of tracking.
The only time I haven't had a pass through with a 3 blade rage is if I hit the off shoulder. And I only pull back 58#s.

That's about what I pull. You know when I haven't had a complete pass through with a muzzy? Never.

I find it hard to believe any blade will blow through the off shoulder blade with less than 60# pull, but I've never shot a muzzy so I can't argue with ya.
