I am looking into getting a new sight. I have an old truglo and the pins on it are shot. They quit glowing before the sun even goes down and I'm getting tired of dealing with it. So I want to know what y'all recommend. Single pin adjustable, multiple pins whatever. There's a Cabela's not far from here and I'm going to be watching the Bargain Cave but I'd like to know if what I look at is worth my time even if its on sale.

First question is how much are you willing to spend?

I was gonna make a crack in your sights when you posted those pics.

I have a Sword .015 5 pin, but 3 is plenty with a "modern" bow, unless you're shooting out to about 70 yards. I got it upon my local shop's recommendation when they were new. From what I understand, they've gone up, but it's a really well made, durable sight. I'm very pleased with it.

Round a hundred bucks if it was one that is going to last. The archery guy I go to church with likes and recommends spot hogs. Just wondering if it is worth it to get an expensive one if another cheaper truglo is just as good.

What I have now is basically a cheaper version of this. I think it may even be a knockoff brand. Don't have a pic of it or I would post it up for you to laugh at. I didn't even want to spend the money on whisker biscuit until I cut my finger pretty bad 3 years ago when the arrow fell out of the rest.

If you can pony up for a micro tune sight they are worth it. I'm with Assa on the small pins

Gotcha. Any specific brand that makes micro adjustables to stay away from?

Couldn't tell you, I'm not a prude when it comes to this stuff. All relatively the same. Tru glo makes some good ones for under $100 I believe

Scratch that, forgot the truglo has the tool less adjustment. To me seems like it would be easier to knock loose. Quick search my preference would be one of these, for the money.

I had the same ones pulled up on my computer right now. My dad uses a Trophy ridge and has never had problems with it.

This is the one I have, I believe. Mine is camo, but apparently they don;'t make it that way anymore. and the .019 pins are good. In my opinion, the .010 are too small.

That's not a bad price either. Do you have a light on it or is that a worthless addition.

I have one of the cheap Truglo lights. They'll thread into pretty much anything. I just ran a couple turns with a tap through the "slot" in it, but I believe they are now threaded for one. I don't know that I've ever used it, though.

I heard spot hoggs are really good sights for the money, most are around 100-150

I shoot a spot hogg and like it. I would steer towards anything with small pins and a micro adjust though. I got the spot hogg just below the model with the micro adjust and wish I had spent the few extra bucks.

This is why I asked. Thanks for all the input thus far.

And if you do go spot hogg make sure it has the "hogg wrap", I think they all come with it now anyways, but it will help collect more light for the pins.

Well after searching on and off all afternoon I found one I like the looks of. Only problem is its not micro adjustable. Anybody heard about Axion sights?

For a couple bucks more this one has the micro adjust

Get whatever you want, I just seriously wish I'd spent the extra for the micro adjust.

I hear ya. Out of curiosity what is the difference between regular and micro? I assume it lessens the chance of fucking up and going too far when adjusting, which I've done several times. Does it have a "gear" system in it that slowly moves the sight when you tighten/loosen the screws?

Pretty much, from what I understand. Some have "click,s" on the dial so it move,s in small increments, don't know if they all do.

loosen the lock Allen screw and then you have a thumbscrew to adjust the sight ring. Windage and elevation both have their own lock and thumbscrews.

Some of the new ones I was looking at on the website linked advertised "tool-less" micro adjust.

Truglo? Instead of a Allen sey screw they have a knurled thumb knob to loosen. Can thread in a little plastic post as well to help get leverage.
