Yes, snow geese.

You were going to spend $5,500 on goose decoys!?!?

Hell yes. I figured I could sell them for $150 a dozen, easy. Keep 3 dozen for myself, and still clear $9,000 for my trouble.

Don't have many snow geese here. I did see a raft of about 500 canadas on the bay this year though.

Seems like a good investment. I think I'd paint 1000 bills for 9k

I'd love to haul ass up on that in a boat with a few guns and unload.

I watched them land in basically the same spot at the same time for a week straight while duck hunting. Wish I woulda had a layout boat and 100goose floaters.

I've killed a lot of ducks over old school flambeaus I bought in the 80's and I still use them. The paint just don't come off. (Lead)
Everyone hates them and some burn theirs. Finding some cheap old flambeaus is what a young guy needs. They work.

I wish I would have had more money when this happened, but 3 years ago during Scheels' Waterfowl Festival, they had 6 packs of Dakota Floaters for $100, as well as a bonus promotion that if you spent $250 using their card, you got an extra $25 off. At the time I had no extra cash, but did have about $300 on their card. I've already told myself if it happens again, I'm buying every box they have.

If it does happen again, I'll give you $125 a box for floaters.

I still kick myself for missing that deal. A guy could easily sell them for $125 a box and quickly net yourself a couple dozen for free. Wife hates it when I do stuff like that.

And that's why I was willing to pay a Chinaman $5,500 for 100 dozen. But noooooooo, Chung Li couldn't figure out how to paint a damn bill black instead of orange.

Search wholesale decoys. I'm not sure if shipping is included in the pricing.

I've looked at alibaba in the past...

Never know about this wholesale stuff before. 500 duck decoys for $750 is kinda tempting.

The problem with decoys is storage during the off season

Yes, I think that's how it started. If I remember, you could find a dozen full bodies for about $60, but I could never find any floaters. Then I got hooked up with an injection molding company in Shenzen, and we were emailing back and forth for a bit. The pics weren't bad, except for those stupid ass orange bills, that they were adamant could not be changed.

I also wanted just one to see about the quality, but it was an all or nothing deal, so I was out. Which was too bad, because I was already counting all the money I was gonna make selling those bastards.

That would kinda be a deal breaker too. I'd would be hard to drop a few grand on something you have no idea what it actually looks like.

Did the thought ever occur to you to paint the bills yourself? For $50/dozen I think I could manage to spray paint a little flat black on.

It occurred to me. And then just as quickly unoccurred. Even though it's an amazing return on investment, I'm not painting 1,200 goose bills, and hoping that the paint is worth a crap. Nope.
