I had a nice standing drake mallard done just as my dad was retiring 4 years ago. Ended up giving it to him for a retirement gift

Should be picking up a snow this week and another mallard (Sam'a first duck) within a month or two

This is a fox I got at the end of the season at our hunting property. Not sure where I'm putting it yet but it's almost done, I'll give it a few days of drying and start working on mossing the base. Then touch up eyes and nose.

Interesting, if you kill a musky around here, let alone spear it, your house gets burnt down.

Great looking mount though

Some people keep them around here, but most throw em back once they get them in. Half the state hates them because they think they ruin the other sport fishing because "they eat everything in the lake"

I'm sure there's people here who feel the same, but they keep their mouths shut.

Muskie fisherman around here defend those fish as if they were their children.

Some more pics. Not mine of course, I'm not hood rich like some we know.

I worked for a guy today and after we had bs'd hunting he says "come check out my game room".

Said he went to Africa a couple times and New Zealand once.

Pic to follow

Very nice at any rate!

That's only 10kish a trip. Maybe if you bare bones it and not including getting the animal back and mounted.

No way. Trust me - I was less than 24 hours from wheels up when my oldest son got hospitalized, and I cancelled the trip. I've priced it all out.

Here a price list from the outfitter I was booked with, and prices are pretty much unchanged since 2009.
http://www.hunttrophiesafrica.com/price-list.html

From the picture I see 2 trips to Africa and possibly 1 to New Zealand, unless those were shot on ranches in Tx/Az, hell - all those could have been killed on ranches in the US.

The more I look at those pics, he could have been all in, including transport and taxidermy for $60-70k

This is my thought as well. If you shoot something, just to say you shot it, that's pretty low. If I shoot something, it's for food.

Not me. Been reading stories of African safaris since I could hold a book.

Ruark? Hemingway? Harry Selby? J.A. Hunter??

Someday.
