A teal my dad did for me that I shot a long time ago and had wanted to get it mounted for no particular reason. It had been over 20 years since he'd mounted a duck when he did this one.

Ten years after, some reply.

We sure know how to collect mounts, don't we? Any of you have plans for your mounts? I've given a few away. Some are too nice to give away. Some have related stories with old friends and dogs I wouldn't throw away in a dumpster. My first drake pintail is still the best of three I had mounted. Great story behind him.

Is it true we are not supposed to sell these mounts? They are tagged, so why not? I'm not getting any younger, or so it looks like I'm not. Thousands of dollars in mounts. Can we sell the wood and give the duck away, at an upgraded price? Most of these mounts have been somewhat famous to me for the last few decades. Just talked with a great friend who said, "Nothing lasts forever."

Almost sad to hear that. Museums help to keep things "alive", so to speak. Some homes are almost like museums. The wife keeps telling me I need to start getting rid of some of this. Selling taxidermy online after preserving it for 40 years plus or minus should be OK. They could judge by the date on the tag or something. Make me feel like a criminal for selling a mount. I could buy some new teeth, ya know?

At least I have enjoyed them, to say the least. Many great memories to help me keep going. Guess the trails that lead me here were some awesome trails, with awesome friends: except the guy who almost blew my head off after saying "duck". Almost left him there.
