That pheasant didn't laugh; he couldn't, that son of a gun was dead as a rock.

Because I don't like chasing cripples.
I don't know what most of the rest of your post means, so I'm going to ignore it.
You know how far 60 yards is right.
I don't think a target load even shoots that far.

I lied. I accidentally shot my mom and uncle at about 80 yards with some 6 shot target loads. They said it felt like a bee sting. Sure that would drop a pheasant out of the sky though.

Well your making yourself sound not so intelligent. Because there is no such thing a 6 size shot target loads.

There is when I make em.

So what's the FPS on them, how much shot, what style of wad? 6 shot is illegal in all clay pigeon games.

Any well built shotgun should be able to handle three times list PSIs. If they couldn't, they'd be out of business because some dumbfuck sues them for making an over load that blows up a barrel that can only handle up to 13000 PSI. Or a factory load he buys is overloaded and blows up because the barrel is a max of 15000 psi but that load produced 25000 psi.

Anybody here know of any 3" 12ga loads that run over 15000psi? I've never seen one in any reloading manuals ever. Is it even possible to make that kind of pressure in a shotshell?

It's possible...

So what's the combination?
1 1/2oz lead load i have is supposedly around 11000psi. Not sure how you can pack much else in to bring the pressure up.

Book says 1250.
1 1/8 oz shot
Some kind of claybuster wad. Can't remember off hand.
I don't shoot clay games except for fun on my own.

Load 15-18 grains of a super duper fast burning rifle powder with a CCI Magnum 209 and you'll have it with 1 5/8 oz of lead but please used established data if you can find any.

Just because it says 1250 doesn't mean it's 1250. In your gun it could be 1290, in mine it could be 1145. You just can't assume until you shoot 10 over a chrony and get an average. FYI, DownRange Wads are made better than CBs, just a little tip.

That's why I said "the book says".
Regardless with 6 shot at 80 yards I shot a person and it did nothing more than sting. You think 7.5s will kill to 60? That's just nonsense.

Pull your head outta your ass man. The gun can and must be able to handle proof loads. Much higher than normal psi. But try that on a normal basis at all and you are fucked

Exactly. The action and working parts of your gun are more likely to be damaged before the barrel blows up.

Believe me, there's people that do it because they want to achieve 2,000 FPS. I would never do it, but have seen it done. Depending on powder it can either be effective or non-effective, mostly non because a lot of the powder doesn\'t even get burned up.

Why don't you try a different load next time who knows, it could be your favorite. I know what 7.5s will do you upland birds, and I know what 7.5s will do to waterfowl off jump shooting creeks. A change of load is good everynow and then, especially if it could mean a higher percentage in your shooting.

I use target load 9's on giant honkers at distances up to 85yards. 7.5s should easily go that far.
