Gun Shop person

Have a rather obscure question.
I bought a shotgun and kept the serial numbers etc.
Later I gifted that gun to a friend who no longer has it and won't say what happened. Naturally we aren't friends anymore since he don't trust me enough to say what happened but...I just gotta know.

Some say he was drunk n stupid and the cops took it while others say he probably pawned it.
Where do I start? Private detective?
This all happened about 6 years ago.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

I would highly suggest you juts forget about it. I'm sure Illinois is different, but most places you don't need to do squat for a face to face transfer, especially of a long gun.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

If you want peace of mind, write up a bill of sale between the two of you with that serial number and date it for when you sold it and have him sign it. Now that might be difficult not being friends and all, but it would be some sort of proof that you are no longer in possesion of it.

exactly. Chances are if the cops ended up with it, it was destroyed years ago

They're coming for you as we speak.
