Mag extensions - how many shots?

Postby Goldfish » Tue Mar 12, 2013 5:18 pm

I'm looking up mag extensions for my 870, and there are anywhere from 2-8 shot extensions on ebay. I'm not looking at these for a home defense gun, I'm looking more for the fact that at some point in my life I will be doing a spring snow hunt and as dumb as it is, I better get one now before I can't get one later.

Realistically, I doubt I could/wouldn't want to fire off 8 rounds at the birds before they are out of range unless I put on one heck of a stalk, so what is normal to get? What do you have? Ever wish you had more room?

I have a +8 on my Browning. Sometimes I can rack off all 13 rounds, but it's more or less used for when a flock comes in and I shoot 3 or 4 birds and I don't have time to reload and another flock is on the deck coming in. It really shines also for cripple clean up. The only downside is that you will burn through a lot more ammo.

If your gonna get one I'd gas as big as you can. That way that time won't come where you get pissed because you needed 2 more shells for some reason.

I think the biggest one they make is an 11. That would get real heavy real quick.

Mine is extremely front heavy. It does require some re-adjusting on how to aim. But it's worth it in my opinion.

You are right. I am going to go out in the garage and build one that holds 30 rounds just to piss off some damn liberals.

Seriously, As soon as they come out with one that will fit an A5 I am going to get the biggest one they make to use on snows.
