Mine wpuld be upside down flipping the bird!

For many years Browning used beads that were pressed in, not sure if they still do.

I see the bead every time I shoot, must explain why I don't kill any birds.

Don't be sorry. If it works for you rock the hell out of it.

The bead/sight is there for a reason, and I believe that a shotgun should be aimed before firing, not just pointed. If it helps you get on target, you should be using it...

I'm by no means a great shot compared to some that are out there, but I try to shoot a lot of clays, and don't tend to miss birds that are in range when using the bead.

Worst case, you spend a little money to try it, and sell it if it bothers you...

You should head over to Cabelas in Hammond, and check them out. I have the Hi-Viz brand...

You know damn well that skeet can't be compared to decoying puddle ducks. Especially when using a Skeet choke vs. a full choke.

I've never hunted divers so you win on that one...

Decoying puddle ducks??

Blot 'em out with the barrel and squeeze. Repeat(2x)

No need for a bead there either.

you shouldn't be looking at your bead on any target that isn't sitting still, hi viz sights are a hinderance plane and simple

I'm not syaing that you should be staring at the bead through the shot, but I use it to get lined up while aquiring the target. The hi-viz helps to find the line faster, allowing you to focus on the target sooner to make a good shot. I'm not a fan of just pointing th barrel, and shooting. That's how I shoot over targets.

Damn it Dan! I said to each, their own!

I understand what you are saying, and agree that it works for a lot of people, but to say that the bead shouldn't be used as a blanket statement is wrong. Maybe it shouldn't be used by you (I wouldn't change my ways if I were you), but there a lot of people that kill birds by using one.

I know for a fact that if I don't use it, I will shoot high on a bird/clay.

Wait...I'm sorry for all of this. I figured out what my problem is...

I hunt ducks with a Pre-Robertson Mossberg.

Nope, that's how you hit. You put the bead on something with a shotgun, you're gonna shoot low. Don't believe me, go shoot at a couple rabbits or groundhogs in a field. You put the bead on them, you'll see a huge puff of dirt where the shot hits, short of the target. Cover your target with the barrel.

That being said, if the bead works for you, more power to you.

Iz just effing with you!

It's always hell for me after I spend 3 weeks shooting divers to shoot mallards, I always give the bastards 3 feet and miss ahead of them by 2.5 feet.

Always have to retrain my brain.

I find the best way to hunt buffies is just to pay absolutely no attention, and be surprised, throwing the gun up at the last minute. That's what works for me. If I see those little bastards coming, I miss damn near every time. Love shooting them, though.

I agree with you, but I'm not saying that you should put the bead on the target. I use it to aquire the target before deciding on my line.

If I just pull up to shoot by covering the target with my barrel, I find that the barrel covers the target too soon 9/10 times, leaving me with a high shot. There is a lot more barrel, than bead, giving me a huge variation in shot lines. The bead helps me to narrow that line.

I know Dan. And I'm sure that you're a hell of a lot better shot than I am from reading some of your posts.

I'm going to stick with my Mossberg being the issue!
