Maxus 3 1/2" that won't shot more than one at a time.

Just bought a browning maxus 3 1/2". Took it out on opener of the duck hunt and was thoroughly disappointed when it wouldn't shoot the second shell. It will shoot the shell in the chamber and cycle the next shell into the chamber but it won't shoot the second shell it's like the firing pin doesn't reset or some thing. Anyone have any advice?

If your driving a pinto you don't trade it in on a gremlin. Sorry your new shotgun let you down on the opener that sucks did you try different shells?

On a serious note. It sounds like the hammer is following the bolt forward when the gun cycles. I would remove the trigger group and look for dirt or a broken part in the trigger group. On the second shot, do you feel the sear release and hear a "click"? I would guess that you don't.

Good luck.......hope it an inexpensive fix

Did you clean it or just run and gun as soon as you got it? Sounds like you got something in there that is preventing it from cycling correctly. Tear it down completely and give it a good scrubbing and try again.

I just bought one of these a few weeks ago and mine works great so don't be scared.

I would suggest giving the gun a good cleaning following how the owner manual says too. If that doesn't resolve the issue I'd contact Browning.

Also did you shoot it before you went into the field?

If you go this route, don't tell Browning you took it apart.

Damn you're trolling hard this morning. Go to any shotgun forum and search and you'll see tons of threads about all 3 brands with problems.

Oddly enough, I don't see those in relation to the 870. Hmm.

My 870 jammed on me once Jimbo.....thats a pretty good average considering the tens of thousands of times it worked properly.

But they are capable of a short shuck, just so you know that.

thats not trolling, it's mandatory to say these things when you own a bgun, when someone has a benelli problem it will be your turn

Honestly that's one reason I love pump guns. If they don't cycle it's operator error and if no they can easily be stripped down and dealt with. That's why I will never get rid of my Nova, never had a problem with it and know it inside and out. It can be a bitch to put autos back together.

My nova just got its first cleaning ever after 4 years of abuse. I wasn't even the one that cleaned it either. My welfare B gun has never misfired in anyway. Bang every time. Won't own another gun until this one is dead.

I'd say that's about average. If we are talking fancy, I'd be putting Benelli performance Shop at the bottom of the fancy gun list and moving up from there.
