Cleaning Gas Operated Shotguns

What have you guys found to be the best cleaner for cleaning gas operated guns. I have heard you have to use certain types of cleaners/oil so they will operate properly. I am purchasing a new Browning Maxus tonight so I was looking for advise from you guys that have more experience. I want to do it right and use whatever is going to make this gun operate correctly. Thanks for any input.

Water! Lots of water, preferably salt water! Seriously, I just use hoppie's.

Forget these guys and go the easy route, buy yourself a Benelli.
Kool-Aid is great, red is my favorite.

Since we dont have salt water around here how do you think I should mix it to make sure it's strong enough?
FS-I have heard about clp. I will have to pick some up and give it a try.
3leg-I didn't think it would take that long for someone to start that.

CLP Breakfree works great. I've always used G-96 though. I'm going to try this new stuff out though. Heard a lot of good about it, so I broke down and bought a bottle of it. Its called Gunzilla. Its an all natural CLP. Supposed to be awesome stuff. I've been using it on my pistol and some rifles and it appears to be doing great. The real test will come in late december and january for goose season.

On a side note.. I am really liking this Browning. Can't wait for season to give it the real test.

Must admit to goin' the Benelli route as well, but just use brake cleaner in my SX2 and 3. Have never found anything that would clean most newer Remingtons well enough to make 'em reliable, though brake cleaner worked fine on my old 1100.

Red kool-aid sucks. Purple drank is where it's at!
I use breakfree clp. Break my gun down, spray the parts down that need cleaning, then wipe all the breakfree off. I run my gun as dry as I can get it. A little bit of breakfree clp goes a LONG way!

I have been using the CLP Breakfree and I've noticed that a little goes a long way. It does seem to work very well though.

I clean my shotguns with Ed's Red. Equal Parts of the following.
Automatic transmition fluid
Deorderized Kerosene
Mineral Spirits
Acetone
I get all the ingredients at Walmart. Store in a gallon gas can. I have a qt glass bottle. It really cleans them getting more crud out of the barrel after using Hoppes.
I lube all my guns with Break Free CLP blowing or wiping off the excess. Ned S

For cleaning the actual gas piston itself Slip 2000 works better than anything I have seen.

The thing about gas operated shotguns is they get dirty quickly.
The procedure:
Disassemble, oil, wipe off the oil, reassemble.
Lots of talk about fancy oils.
I've used most everything out there and found that plain old tranny fluid is pretty good gun oil.
A quart will last you a lifetime.
Save your money for ammo.
Hoppes #9 is the stuff you use to clean your barrel and piston. It eats rust and powder residue. IT'S NOT OIL.
The piston is that little part at the very bottom of my picture.
