Breathing Techniques...

Postby R. Chapman » Sun Feb 09, 2014 11:35 pm

Yes, I know that rifles and shotguns don't relate...most of the time. You watch a lot of competition precision rifle shooters who most use a breathing technique where they get all of their air out before calming as this is usually the calmest point your heart beat and body gets. You can apply the same techniques to competition shotgun shooting. But the key is to not all of your air out because you still need to have enough air to call for the target. The key is to try to get down to the bottom of your breath where you call with your "gut" so to speak. The thing I do is the breathing technique is when I'm mount the gun up on my shoulder. By the time I have the gun mounted, I'm at the end of the cycle and call shit. To me, when I have most of the air out of my system during the focus period looking for that target coming out the house, the targets seem slow, easy slow. The first few times trying this, it will seem like you have to remember this every shot. But it builds into muscle memory fairly quick.

Thanks for sharing!

My technique is this, it's kind of elaborate but it works like a charm. First, hyperventilate for 2 minutes, really deep breathes in and out as quick as you possibly can. You will get some weird looks, but trust me. Next turn and face the sun and scream all the air out of your lungs. Doesn't matter what you scream just make it loud and until you just can't do it anymore. Then double over, this will help relax your muscles for the shot, remember not to drop your gun. Stay in this position, bent over still not inhaling until you start to see stars in your peripheral vision. When this happens, stand up quick (but not too quick or you will pass out), inhale deeply through your nose, spin around twice, and call for the target. Your mind and body will feel totally as one at this point and you should be able to make any shot that is presented to you. If you try my technique, please start off wearing a helmet until you get the standing up part down. Also warn others of what you are doing so that they will be prepared, for your actions and so they can get their video cameras going. Good luck, hope it works for you.

I breathe heavily when I'm knocking the bottom out of my girlfriend for long periods of time.

I almost got kicked out of a club once because I kept saying "shit" to launch the bird. It was a cunning array of stunts by a stunning array of cunts if I've ever seen any...

Keep breathing Rex, your post is a good one, the boys are just splashing the pot. Breathing and trigger control are important in long range shots.

It's hard to have trigger control in shot gunning because its not precision rifle shooting but I know you already knew that. More or less just "slapping" the trigger.

You youse bteathing control, and squeeze the trigger when shooting a thotgun? I didn't know you were supposed to. I don't think about breathing, and jerk the trigger like it's my pecker and it seems to workout fine for me.

How much of a difference is squeezing the trigger gonna make when shooting 100+ bbs at a duck?
