Bingo

Although, I made about 12k a year my junior and senior years of high-school working my ass off. Not a lot but it goes a long way when your only responsibilities are gas @1.25 a gallon, truck insurance, and my phone bill my SR year.

That sounds about exactly like my junior and senior years, but you left out the beer, that was a big part of my budget back then. I even remember a time gas prices dropped to .99/gal for a week or two.

I paid $0.99/gal a few times. It seems like $1.20 was pretty normal.

$20 for a tank of gas and a pack of smokes in high school. WTF happened?!?

I started driving in 03 or 04 and gas was that low. I could last a whole week on 20-30 bucks.

I think it was around $1.10 a gallon, and smokes were $1.05 a pack. (What the fuck happened there?) A case of Coors Light was $8.99, and I was a happy motherfucker.

I can still do that with my truck getting 9-10 mpg, however my work commute is only 2 miles.

Heck, even into college they were pretty cheap. I probably still have an ashtray a chick made for me in ceramics class. In the bottom, she etched in "Hey, I have a hundred and ten pennies, anybody want to go to Turkey Hill?" (Turkey Hill is a PA convenience store, for the record.)

When I quit, cigarettes in a machine were 70 cents, and when they went up to a $1, I thought everybody would quit. Absolutely flips me out that people pay what they do for tobacco now.

I quit the day I joined the army. Never started again. It was 34 years ago.
