Problems with Benelli SBE

Postby ChadEde » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:32 pm

The past few hunt I have been having problems with my Shells not ejecting all the way. I have cleaned the gun really good and hunted again and it seemed to get worse. I have tried different brand shells as well. I mainly shoot only 3". I will use 3-1/2 if birds are not as close. Any ideas. Possibly a spring issue? This is the SBE1.

Recoil spring or to much oil left on the gun when you cleaned it would be my first and second guesses.

I would say spring has stretched. Very cheap and easy to fix. Had that happen on one years ago. Seriously, get rid of it? Prob a 12-15 year old gun which has more than likely not have any trouble till now. Find another auto that will do that before you follow that advice lol

I'm not saying anything new here but definitely clean the recoil spring and tube thoroughly, then oil very lightly (I wipe all parts with a dry rag after lubricating but before reassembly). The same advice goes for lubricating the exterior surfaces of the bolt and rails upon which it rides in the receiver. I'd suspect the recoil spring might be out of spec if you were having feeding issues and failure to go into battery - sounds like an extractor or ejector issue.

I clean the spring tube twice a year. You need to replace the original with a Wolff spring.
