409 gun cleaning

Postby Ricky Spanish » Sun Sep 18, 2022 5:15 am

Someone did a real nice 'how to' thread on degreasing a semi-auto.
They tear the gun down and soak.the pieces in a bucket of formula 409 solution.
Blow it out with air hose.
I did my 390 and it works.
That silver button thing needed extra love it gets full of powder residue .

I’ll have to try it when I tear it apart. My semi-auto usually just get a shot of CRC 3-36 in the action. It makes em slick as owl shit.

I used to think like that.
The right spray oil and it's zero maintenance.
Wrong.
However...I found this an it's extremely slippery stuff but its bad for your body. :scooter:

I spray some on a q-tip and oil/clean the sliding mechanism on the bolt. Don't take much.
I'm a Yankee and don't deal with salt but I'm pretty salty.
I suppose the "oil er up good" thing might be better in salt.
