After the initial degreasing, what's a good choice for a metal conditioner? I've used miltec before, but can't find any right now. What are good alternatives?

Have to admit just replacing the gummy stuff with light oil. Wouldn't know a "metal conditioner" if I spilled it on a favorite shirt.

If I had a new weapon I'd clean it with this stuff.
Have used lots of different lubes but this stuff is like magic.

Cancer in a can!
I bought it because it was all they had.
What luck!
Found it by accident.

That's what I wanted when I bought the zero friction.
It's way better imo.

Metal conditioner?
They didn't bring that up once in "material science classes" which are mostly about steel.
In the refuge there is a sticky on cleaning your gun with formula 409 to degrease it.
To get the grease off they packed it in I'd start there.

Yea not familiar with anything other than getting the heavy grease from packing/shipping out of it, slickening it up and letting it rip.

Since this is a new gun shouldn't we be pushing getting it dipped? It's only money and they'll have to clean it to dip it.

Reads like Frog Lube, which I wasn't quite certain I'm too lazy to fool with until after I had.

There is or was a really good sticky on refuge about "how to clean your gun".
Starts with disassembly and a soak in a bucket of formula 409.
Tried it and I'm satisfied with it being "the way".
Whoever posted that deserves credit.
Out of all the horse shit I've seen online that's the best tip I've seen.
My gun lost a couple if it's quirks once I gave it a good soak in 409.
