Shotgunning Coyotes

I have seen video of coyote kills at 75 yards with Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote. It has incredible energy at great distances. How far have you killed a coyote with a shotgun? What loads do you use?

 80 maybe. but thats an exceptionally lucky shot. I got one running at 50 with a load of bird shot, lucky too. We roll our own and shoot them out of extra full chokes and will take them routinely over 60 yards. We use a load of 1/1/2 oz #F lead shot in a 3" and a full 2 oz load of #4 buck in 3 1/2" both will flatten a dog at over 60 yards.

As soon as duck season ends I'm going to attempt a shotgun kill.

I usually shoot 2 or 3 a year with a shotgun in my inlaws 40. 3 inch # 4 buck out of a modified choke has killed them out to 60 yards for me. Its a hell of a good time to swing on a running coyote then watch him drop.

I was with a friend in eastern Oregon on his cattle ranch. We set up in some brush on the edge of a large field with HeviShot Dead Coyote in 00 Buck. We called in two dogs, one wouldn't commit but the other trotted toward us. At 68 yards (on the range finder) he stopped and stared toward us. He began to turn and I let out a yelp, freezing him in his tracks. My buddy shot him, he fell down and spasmed a few times but died right there. Dead Coyote is, in my opinion, the best shotgun ammo for dogs you can get.
