I don't think you have time to get that one ready for this auction. Looks like your gonna start catching the kits or whatever they call young beaver. It doesn't look anywhere near as big as the last 2. Good job, it's almost over. Get'em while you still can.

Nothing ever gave me the thrill on the trapline quite like finding beaver sign. I'd get all crazy and go grab the 330's right then. Drop everything else. BEAVERS!
Catching one and then seeing them TEETH was always something I thought was very cool.

Now if only they were easier to skin. I think skinning takes me longer than fleshing.

Speaking of fleshing, I'm definitely forking out the cash for a Necker fleshing knife next year. Tried my neighbors, and the difference is night and day. On his otters (damn near a beaver, when it comes to skinning and fleshing), they skinned like my gray foxes do, because of that knife. Worth every penny.

I made my beam out of a piece of salt treated 2x8 and a hand plane. Works just fine.

I did the same. Pretty sure I found patterns for all kindsa stuff like that in Fur-Fish-Game Magazine. Have a pile of them magazines I saved just for the covers. The artwork is awesome.
Is that still a good magazine that shows sets and all sorts of how-to articles?

It's pretty good. Definitely the best "mainstream" magazine out there. There's one called Trapper Predator which is excellent. It's not some glossy, fancy publication, but has tons of good info in it.
