A lot of folks paint them white. I don't think that would help me much. Lol
I would need to paint them orange like you said.
I wonder if some of that greasy coon would work for fisher? Might not be a bad option.

That's a pretty good plan. Big hunk of greasy coon for bait. I'll keep that in mind for next season. I'm only keeping traps out until Sunday, and with the cold weather last night, the coons shut off again. Supposed to stay cold, so I could probably pull them now, but am going to wait a couple more days.

Yeah we've been getting below zero again. Makes for slow trapping.

Going out this morning for one last check and pulling snares. If they show up later I might reset, but they've been nonexistent.

Good morning, but pulled my traps anyway.

The cubby set worked.

That big coon closest to the camera in the first pic was a tough sonofabitch. His face was scarred up, teeth chipped, and he wanted a piece of my ass. Kept trying to lift up and chomp on my ankle.

And the beating stick has taken a beating.

Nice! I had a feeling a grey would get in that cubby. Not a bad check for ya. It's snowing pretty bad over here so I don't imagine I will get too much this weekend.

No, not yet. Coons still seem to be very prime.

I found a few tracks on the neighbors property, not even coming through my area, might put a few our behind the parents with some bait. Quick and easy checks, not as much walkin and trudging.

Neighbor called, said he had a "big ass bird" in his pigeon coop, and wanted me to come get it. Great, I think, I'm gonna have to deal with another eagle

Used the old "coat on the hood" trick again, and tossed him in a small kennel he had. Was just a hawk, and I was going to "dispose" of it, but he's sort of a hippie (good guy, just doesn't like to kill stuff). I told him he was on his own if he was going to release it, but he better go far or that bastard would be back eating pigeons tomorrow. Last I saw, he was driving down the road somewhere to let him go.

He better have drove a really really long way. If he ain't gone until next week then he probably didn't drive far enough.

That's what I tried to tell him.

All mine got sent last month. Just dipped all my traps today, gonna try to get then waxed next week, and start building snares. Instead of a dozen at a time, I plan on having 75-100 snares out at all times. Gotta make done cable stakes, too. Got 7 dozen Betkshire ends, gonna give them a whirl this year.

I'm shipping mine out on Wednesday. I plan on making a ton of snares this year also. However, I'm still trapping so don't have time yet.
