Preferred Caliber?

Postby Bulldog0156 » Sat Nov 16, 2013 9:44 am

What do you guys like for shooting coyotes without blowing them up? I'm thinking about giving it a try to make a few extra bucks this winter but have been told that the .243 will do real bad things to the pelts. Sooooo, I will probably need to get a new rifle.

.243 is great for coyotes. Just don't use a bullet that expands a lot. Or use something like these

Head shots are also ideal.

Have always just shot em with my 223. Havent had the chance to take one with my 204 yet. But 223's a purty clean kill

Don't use a 25-06 with federal hollow points! You could throw a basket ball threw the wound.

Just have to read the title to know.........................Thirty five!

I guess it depends of what you are shooting them for, fun or profit. Trying to save the pelts, small caliber fmj or solid. Just out killing shit, use anything.......perhaps a .600 Overkill or a .416 Rigby. I would keep the .35 handy as a backup just in case a crazed yote charges you.

Or .22 cb cap or 22 long or 22 long rifle or 22 mag or 222 or 223 or 22-250 or 220 Swift Actually, just about any twenty two. Consider also the 22 hornet, 218 bee and the 5.56X50R Mag.

Don't forget the bowmag. No coyote hunting arsenal is complete without one.

I want to get a hornet. I bet that would be fun to shoot.
