Coyote Hunting Beginner...

Postby R. Chapman » Sat Jan 04, 2014 1:22 am

Today's the first time I've ever actually went hunting for coyotes. I missed but oh well, I think I am hooked. It was very cool watching the dog come right to Dusty's calling. I guess what are somethings I need to know? Like what kinds of calls and how important is calling. Decoys? Techniques? I've shot coyotes before but only when I seen them while hunting.

About 50 yards, but for some reason I kept thinking it was 200 yards. Guess I went retarded for a while. Instead of using the main hair, I used my next hair down in my scope that is set to shoot 1/2" low *at 200. Had a blonde moment.

Forgot to add range, reason for edit.

 Been way to windy to have been out this week.
This weekend it will be cold but the wind won't blow as bad.
Where you been calling, around the Helena area? Townsend area always intrigued me, along the lake.
I didn't notes what you're shooting? Try it with a shotgun, NOW WE'RE talken !!!
It is very addicting , welcome to the dark side, it will soon take over your life...

congrats on seeing a Coyote and taking a shot on your first hunt, no worries he will be bigger next month.
if it isn't dangerous it will not be much fun.
