I checked one of my baits tonight and found these tracks all around my bait site. It was a little bit eerie being in the dark with no weapon and knowing one of these was lurking around not to long ago.

toes do look round but i thought it was the way the light is hitting, but you're right the spacing between them is looking more catlike the more i look at it.

from what i've seen, i think you'd be damn lucky if you could draw before one was on you. only one ran away when it saw me, and i can tell you, they are TOO fast. if he really wants you, you might be SOL.

To bring a couple threads together, I recall a story a couple years ago of an old couple hiking, and the man was attacked by a mountain lion. The wife either killed it or ran it off by stabbing it in the face- repeatedly- with a ball point pen.


Apparently, they aren't that tough. The mountain lions, I mean. The senior citizens are plenty tough.

Yes it is lion track. I know the pic isn't great but it was the best one I could get in the dark while looking over my shoulders. I'm gonna go to that bait site tomorrow night so it will make things more interesting since I'll be packing bait with me this time. I'm sure it was just a one hit wonder.
And what the hell kind of guy wants a little teeth anyway. I'm in pain just thinking about it. Lol
I might go ahead and carry my pistol with me this time. Although it is just a single action .22

Probably as long as you have a trappers license. Here if you have one, you can pretty much take anything just needs to be signs of proof it was in a trap.

If I caught one and it was dead then game and fish would take it I'm sure. If it was alive I would have game and fish remove it. There is no trapping of lion allowed in Wyoming.
