Contraption

This is my latest- homemade pole syringe. They sell them for $80, but this one cost me $3. Also, the store bought ones are too big to fit through the holes in a cage trap, but this one easily fits. We'll see how well it works if I catch something this morning.

Jim, be so kind as to explain the reason for that contraption? I can only assume it is used to dispatch a trapped animal where you are not allowed to use a gun. Did I guess right?

Exactly. Inject 6cc of acetone into the chest cavity, and they doe within a minute or so. I've never tried it, so we'll see. It finally got old having to put traps full of pissing, shit flinging raccoons in the back of the Jeep for a half hour or so, until I could get them somewhere to shoot them.

That's a hell of an idea. Keeps the pelt nice and clean too if you want to sell them.

Thought about trying it on skunks, too. The essence is worth good money, and this supposedly keeps them from spraying, so they're full

First candidate. And a $250 possum, to boot.

Either possums are tougher than coons, or this acetone theory is a bunch of shit. I just hit him again for good measure.

Or maybe not. The second for sure went through the ribs, and this is about 30 seconds later.

I'd think you would have to get it into the chest cavity for fast results.......... Holy crap $250 for a opossum? Dang dude that's killer!

First catch is $250, $125 for each animal after that. That's not "normal" for me though- regular is $125/$75, but getting into/out of/around a resort town in the summer with two roads in and out sucks ass.

If this bitch comes back to life in the back, I'm gonna be upset. Also got some bonus anchor babies.

I have a funny story about an opossum that had babies. I'll leave it for another day or let Boot tell it. :(

Tell them you normally charge $50 a piece for babies but you are throwing them in this time

If you had a truck you wouldn't need top bring the live animals inside with you. The syringe just seems like to much work if you don't hit it just right or I could see it being easily broken.

3 dollars for his syringe set up. Or at least a few thousand dollars for a decent truck..... Jims goin with the 3 dollar route every time. If he buys himself a truck he's gonna think of it as a loss even if the animals pays for it. He'll factor in upkeep fuel and registration. He'll be pulling his hair out in no time.

This fucker took 2 to the chest, but is now going to sleep. Could be the biggest possum I've seen. $375 in possums before 8:00. Not a bad morning

Eric, I seriously considered a way to monetize the babies, but decided that was just greedy.

Amen to the truck. The 3 years I had that tahoe was a PITA.
On the syringe idk if the I ones we use for cattle are different but some of them get pretty wild in the head gate and we've never broken one.

And I just stuck myself with a possum and acetone needle. We'll see how this pans out

One more for the "get a cheap truck and throw the traps back there" column.

They're easy to hit- just talk softly to them, and they look right at the syringe and sniff it. No shenanigans or jumping around or anything.

I may get superpowers, though. And I'm not about to put a live skunk in the back of anything.

That's weird. What do I know? I've never done what you're doing before. Just seemed like it would be a hassle to avoid having them in the Jeep with you. Looks like it's working out well.

I'm not sure how babies being monetary would be greedy. You are preventing X amount of opossums from ever needing to be trapped. That's $1000 you are saving them in the future. Not telling you to charge but make them know the amount you are saving them.
