Maybe a little too close?

Here's another little clip I took with my cell phone a couple years ago.

I'd called in this young coyote in mid October. He wasn't acting entirely "right" so I just started messing with him.
He eventually saw my foot twitch, and decided my foot was dinner!

Although he's really young, he was really stupid even for that age. My guess was he'd probably lost his parents at a real young age maybe. Usually, by the time they get to his size, they're a lot more "Wiley" or skittish, or spooky,...you get the point.

The funny part is,...I didn't even kill it. I guess I felt pity for the dumb thing.
Truth is,...I should have.

Yea, I don't make a habit out of letting them walk, but I also don't have that "kill 'em all" attitude either.
I enjoy calling and shooting coyotes. I enjoy the hunt! I wish there were MORE not less! For selfish reasons obviously... ;)

Around here farmers get pissed if you don't shoot them .
one of my best turkey spots ,is a sheep farm. And when they kill 15 to 20 lambs/sheep monthly . We hunt them hard .

Yea, I hear ya.
But, honestly,...if they have that much of a predation problem, somebody needs to set snares. The average recreational hunter is only going to help so much. A well set snare line will get them thinned out.
And, even better,...it gets the ones that are wise to the call too!!
Which, in turn,...will bring in fresh coyotes with virgin ears!!
See,...I'm selfish. ;)
