Blondie

Never caught a blonde coon before. Too bad it wasn't this winter, so I could tan it. The pics don't really do it justice- it was a cream color, and the stripes on the tail were a very pale brownish orange. Pretty neat critter. How/why they both ran in the cage trap after a couple cabbage leaves I'm baiting groundhogs with, I have no idea. Never had a double in a live trap before.

Nice catch!
In that first pic, it looked like a coon and a possum!
Must've been some unique timing for them both to be caught.

I once caught two young skunks in the same 110 conibare trap. It was a bucket set, so I guess they both rushed in at the exact same time.

And, for the record, I've never shot or trapped an odd color phase coon. I've been real lucky with oddball coyotes, but not coons. Congrats! I think you oughta tan it anyway!
Assa,...You ever call coons? It's a blast!

Never have. I don't like them enough to try and hunt them. I hate when they mess up my fox sets, but I'll take them. And I thought about tanning this one, but the hide really was pretty poor and very thin.

Could you tame it and raise it until winter, then tan it?

At this point, probably not. Unless I named him Lazarus.

Would've been a good one for the taxi market. Probably 1-200 for it.

For $200, you should have kept that fucker alive until winter!

No, maybe $275 if a taxidermist gave me $200. I get $125 for the first animal, and $75 for each after that. Unless I'm at the beach- then it's doubled.

Have you ever sold anything on that taxidermy "for sale" forum? I tried to sell a black coyote there last year, but ended up getting frustrated and just skinned it and kept it.

Not sure of the link right now. But I do know there is a taxi forum that people but and sell. I'm sure that blonde while prime would've done alright.
