Beaver Trapping Questions

I have a dam that I want to keep intact as the subsequent pond it creates is where I'll be doing most of my duck hunting... that said I'm wondering if it's still ok to get in there and trap a couple beavers... I don't believe our area is know for a high beaver concentration so I'm worried if I trap them out nothing will come back and the keep the dam in tip top shape... any ideas or just leave them alone?
