You mean krylon isn't the best bet??

Only when top coated with matte clear.

Actually, I did a test with krylon matte clear to see if it really helps to hold the paint on decoys. After a hard season on the decoys, you can't tell the difference in which ones were cleared and which ones were just the regular paint (I marked the ones that I cleared on the bottom).

Thats because a topcoat has nothing to do with base coat adhesion.

You should get about 3 gallons of resin, and dip them. Mix it up in one big batch in a 5 gallon bucket, but make sure you have the decoys cleaned off well, and ready to dip right away. Add a little extra hardener to the mix, to make the resin harder when it dries so it'll last longer.

Im tar and feathering mine. Its a pain to get the primaries right though.

I just figure if I make them out of foam, then I can pluck a bird and stick the feathers right into the foam. Either that, or since they are hot buys and littler decoys, I'll just skin 'em and put the whole skin over the decoys.
