Got this one out just in time before Christmas. I invited the buyer for a hunt when he came to pick it up and that was his cover to his wife who he bought the bird for. He ended up knocking down a doe. We went to the other side of my farm and hunted the pond killing 4 mallards and 2 blacks before the down pours started that day. A good day indeed.....

Looks like you've been busy.
I like the looks of the wood grain showing.

Thanks J. Ive been very busy to say the least.

I wish I could say that I meant to leave the wood grain showing through the sides......just kinda happened.

If want to show more of the grain on purpose you can rub it down with steel wool prior to sealing and painting.

A spray bottle with water and a sunny window sill does the trick too. I thin my prime coat way down so that it gets into the wood pretty good. Some wood it doesnt mess with the grain and other pieces it does. I always like the ones with the grain showing through better.

I'm pretty late on this but that's a nice looking wood duck. It's weird but it's probably my favorite to paint.
