Playing a little

Postby Scott R » Sat Aug 16, 2014 2:58 pm

Alright guys let's here it....worth the effort to try and make these feathers separate a little with color..or just leave the same color as the body? I know it'll never be seen from more than 10ft away but I think it looks weird in the hand without something showing they are different. Hated the way they looked outlined in white. So I tried this.

Still have to clean up some edges but you can see what I tried.

Very nice, worth it for sure to be satisfied. Prob right on the 10 ft thing though. I've got some old timer buddy's below Nashville that still hunt with a couple dz mallards and several dz gallon milk jugs painted black and they kill as many or more as anyone around them

I know most of what I paint is really just for me to look at. I've killed just as many of not more birds over my old flambeau and G&H decoys as I've killed over carved birds. Still have them and still use them...missing paint and holes all in them. Like real estate...it's all about location, location, location. :)
