I dunno. All I've seen have been about $20 a block, which is way more than I'm going to spend

I get mine from Willy at The Duckblind. Dont know where your from but he'll be at the ODCCA show in Strongsville next month and brings ordered cork with him for buyers to pick up. If you attend the show anyway it's a way to skip shipping charges. There's few dealers in HD cork in the thickness needed by carvers and its all priced pretty much the same.

Tupelo, then northern white cedar or juniper as some call it, then basswood. Tupelo is expensive though so I dont carve as much of it as I would like. I usually go with the cedar. I am about to start on an owl for a consignment and plan on using tupelo for it. The nice thing about tupelo is you can get away without hollowing to prevent checking as it wont and its light enough as is.
All of these, except of the hooded merganser are hollowed cedar. The Hoodie is cork

Those are some good looking blocks. Guess I didn't realize you were doing non canvas a lot now.

I started doing more wood and cork after getting a bandsaw that could handle cutting side profiles
