Decoy Painting

Hi - I'm new to the forum and have a question about acrylic paint washes. I completed a decorative blue wing teal hen carving and am unhappy with the final result - thinking it needs a couple of brown washes to darken it. I want to be careful not to "muddy" it - so am thinking of a mixture of ultramarine blue and burnt sienna to create a dark brown? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Note - photo makes it appear darker than it actually is - I still think it is to "gray" - thanks for the help!
