Ok, with papered dogs- do you pick the name? I always thought the breeder picked the name. Shows how much I know. And is it "etiquette" to have their everyday call name be a part of their registered name, or does that not matter? Because I have no intention of doing this.

Depends, on the breeder. Some want the kennel name in there, I ket the breeder choose Taz name. Your dog will possibly be pre registered through NAVGDA.

That's cool. I don't care much about the registered name, anyway, just wondered where they come from.

I named Milo. He's a $5-dog. lol
I payed $200 though. The breeder I picked was breeding dogs for temperament. Pets.
I didn't want a fire-breather. The sire was huge and was kinda wound up tight.
I rolled the dice. Got to choose from 13 puppies out of the same dam.
There were two yellow males and I wanted one of those. Picking was easy because one had a birth mark on him that was kind of odd. Wished I could have bought them both.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.
