When?

I have found that the most difficult portion of training is knowing when to proceed with a certain aspect. For instance, you start a dog on a leash, teaching come, heel, and sit/stay. At what point do you know you are ready to give up the leash and the dog will still obey commands?

Note: I didn't mention going to collar conditioning or using collar to extend commands.

I guess you never really KNOW... When the dog is reliable you move on if you are seeing issues then you simplify. That goes for pretty much all training. Beit teaching "sit" or teaching a dog to run a 300yd blind with 2 water entries with a poison bird. Read the dog and they'll tell you when it's time to keep clicking along or time to slow down and simplify.
