Don't follow this forum close enough to know if you two have "history" and just assumed jelher's post a shot at humor foiled by alcohol.

I dont have a dog in this fight, so to speak, but I read that first comment "not feeding a dog that.....", as - wont keep a dog around that doesnt hunt/work, not - will starve a dog that wont hunt/work.

Carry on.

Don't know how many times I've said I wouldn't feed a dog that wouldn't do whatever, but it's been a bunch and always just an expression of the fact that mine have rules and jobs, never an attempt to get a reaction out of anyone or suggestion that I'd let them go hungry.

Turn of this thread reminds me of my ex's PMS. Cut it out.

Ouch. Mod talk or not, the good new is that Banknote has made sense and progress and probably needs no help at all from the likes of us.

I do have this boil on my ass that needs a squeeze.

We're making decent progress. Little to no pressure, except when he needs an occasional reminder. We've transitioned from hand to table, but his pick-ups and holds are sometimes sloppy so we're getting those right before we go to the ground. Beyond progress on the table, his general obedience and attentiveness have been outstanding. He's really tuning in.

As for fixing the sloppy pick-ups, I'm displaying more enthusiasm and saying "fetch" as I put the bumper on the table, which gets him to go for it harder. When he makes a good, clean pickup, I praise immediately, then get him to sit, hold a bit and drop. If it's sloppy, I don't praise, just say "hold" and have him sit, then reposition the bumper while still saying "hold," have him hold it for a few seconds, then drop.

I love this thread. I wish I would have gotten here sooner.
Rick, thanks for being the level headed one and telling these guys like it is.
Me, I'm not so subtle. I came in the dog forum and just said "BULLSHIT!" on your ecollar and they all tried to gang bang me.
I still contend that dogs have been used for centuries by man and, I might add successfully, with out the ecollar.
If you use the ecollar be honest about it. You are giving an electrical shock to your dog. You are not applying pressure or nicking him/her.
I will say this one more time for those who were high or drunk or whatever last time I mentioned it. If it is just pressure and not an electrical shock, wrap your teannie weanie with that ecollar and give the hand set to your wife.
Pfft! pressure, yea right.
Oh and Bank, Ki is looking great and coming along fine. I'm looking forward to hunting with him next season. You're on the right track.

Dogs have been trained without e-collars for centuries. Long before the development of cars that can kill the dogs. Oh, cars have green around for 100 years now? Not billions if them?

I have a lot of respect for the guys that train without an e-collar, but there is no denying that it can save a dog's life, and provides instant correction that gives amateurs the ability to train their own dog in the busy world that we live in today.
